Andres Galarraga’s Miami Moonshot & Jose Canseco’s Oopsie – OTD in HR History For Week of 5/26
Plus, Barry Bonds passes the Babe and walk-off homers from Todd Helton and Mitch Haniger.
With MLB’s regular season in full swing, my weekly home run videos have shifted from being random to looking at what happened on each specific day in home run history.
And since you’re on this email list, you get a sneak peek of what I’m sharing for the upcoming week before everyone else does. Enjoy!
Monday, 5/26
5/26/1993: Carlos Martinez hit a home run and got a little help from Jose Canseco in the process.
5/26/1996: Frank Thomas, Harold Baines, Robin Ventura, and Chad Kreuter each went deep for the White Sox in the eighth inning of their game vs. the Brewers.
5/26/2004: Daryle Ward hit for the cycle in a Pirates win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
Tuesday, 5/27
5/27/2000: Todd Helton hit this walk-off home run for the Rockies. He finished the season hitting .372/.463/.698 with 42 home runs, 59 doubles, and 147 RBI. Insane, lol.

5/29/1997: Larry Walker, Andres Galarraga, and Dante Bichette hit three straight homers against the Marlins.

5/29/2010: Kendrys Morales hit a walk-off home run, which was an awesome moment. It was followed by a not-so-awesome moment, as he injured himself jumping on home plate to celebrate.
Friday, 5/30

5/30/2018: Josh Harrison went oppo taco to tie things up for the Pirates in a game against the Cubs.

5/31/1987: Dave Parker absolutely demolished this offering from Doug Drabek to give the Reds a lead.
5/31/1999: Tony Phillips got drilled with an Estaban Yan fastball, clearing the benches. Matt Stairs helped the A’s have the last laugh with a game-winning homer.

Was at that game, Galarraga crushed that ball the sound off the bat you knew it was gone.
